The myth of Pandora’s box is known to be a famous myth on human behavior, and the concept of curiosity. The myth is based on a woman known as Pandora as well as the first woman to be created by gods, and each god gave her a gift so she could be known as the “woman who bears all gifts.” It is said that Pandora was a punishment to mankind, and once sent to Earth, she was sent with a box that the gods had advised her to never open it. But because of curiosity to what was inside the box drove her to opening it, and revealing many evils such as hardships and illnesses began to pour out. As terrified as she was, she closed the box quickly and trapped Hope inside, leaving Zeus the power to teach all humans to never deceive the gods. I believe this myth relates to the world we live in now because it shows that human’s curiosity still overcomes them till this day. In many cases, as to wanting to try what something could feel like or what the result could be, make irrational decisions due to the curiosity of what is to come after. With this myth came the question, where did all these evils in the world come from? Is it possible that they might of derived from curiosity or the actual myth of Pandora’s Box. Many humans now a days, are missing hope and are filled with doubts, not ever believing in the good things that can come out of life. I think this myth can teach people a lesson as to believing in their first instinct and basing their decisions of what it could be and curiosity.
